How to have a beautiful flat tummy

1) Cut the fat. There's no getting around it - if you want a flatter tummy, you have to eat less fat. This means cutting out junk foods like potato chips, fast foods, creamy sauces and sweet desserts. Instead, fill up on low-fat, high in vitamins foods like whole grain breads and cereals, vegetables, and low-fat proteins (meat and chicken with the fat cut off, turkey, all fish and shellfish, eggs, kidney beans, chickpeas, nuts and seeds). These foods all contain fibre, which combines with water to make you feel full and cut your cravings for junky foods. Drink eight glasses of water a day to keep things moving through your system.

2) Increase your aerobic activity. While eating healthfully and avoiding fat is essential to prepping your soon-to-be-flat tummy, regular aerobic exercise will get you there even faster by burning excess fat. You could have the flattest, most ripped stomach muscles - but if there’s a layer of fat sitting on top of them, no one will see them. Exercise can help banish belly fat so your abdominal muscles can be seen and admired. Aim to do at least 20 to 30 minutes of continuous exercise, four times per week. Good choices for fat-burning workouts include brisk walking, jogging, bicycling, stair climbing (Stairmaster or step class), Tae Bo and aerobic dance classes. If you get bored with one routine, switch to another type of exercise - it’s actually good for you! Professional athletes get the best results from their workouts when they vary their routine, because it keeps their body challenged.

3) Start weight training. A comprehensive weight-training routine not only makes your entire body stronger and more firm, it also increases your metabolism. This steps up the number of calories your body burns, even when you’re lying around at rest. So you can eat more and still stay tight and trim. Plus, most weight training exercises get your abdominal muscles in gear too, so it’s a great workout for your waist. Learn more about starting a weight training program by grabbing a book on the subject from your local library or bookstore, or visit a local gym or community centre to talk to the trainers.

4) Practice good posture. Stand sideways beside a mirror. Now take a look - how are you standing? If your shoulders are drooping and your head is poking forward, your posture needs improving. Bad posture makes your pelvis tilt forward, causing your belly to sag, and that makes your stomach look bigger. It’s also lazy and does nothing to keep your abdominal muscles disciplined. You make your tummy look thinner instantly just by fixing the way you carry yourself. Lift your shoulders up and back. Hold your head so that it's aligned with your spine - imagine a thread from the middle of the top of your head, pulling your entire body up so you’re standing perfectly straight. Tuck in your butt. Concentrate on tightening your abdominal muscles so you can feel the strength and flex of your whole torso. When you’re sitting, sit up straight with your shoulders back and down. Don’t let the small of your back slump away from the chair.

5) Do abdominal exercises. You may have heard that you can’t "spot reduce" - meaning you can’t burn fat off one specific area of your body by working it out. That is true, but you CAN "spot tone" - meaning you can tighten the muscles of a specific body area (like your abdominals) by working them through exercise. Fitness experts, athletes and gym trainers all know that the abdominal crunch, and its partner the pedaling exercise, are the safest and most effective moves for training and toning the tummy muscles. Instructions for doing these exercises properly are included below. To make these exercises effective, you have to do them right. There is no point in doing 50 sloppy crunches - you might as well do none. It’s much better to do 10 to 15 repetitions of an exercise, then rest, then do 10 to 15 more. Thirty proper crunches and 40 pedaling moves (in total), done three to five days per week - combined with the other tips on this page - are all you need to have a rippling tummy within a month or two.

Simple Beauty - 10 Tips that are Free and Easy

It is simple to look good and feel more beautiful starting today.

1. Smile... it will brighten your day and others around you will feel your energy.

2. Stretch... cats know that total body stretch does wonders. Follow their example and roll up slowly out of bed and stretch gently. (For more tips on stretching here is a great book: AM/ PM Stretch for Health.)

3. Exercise... at least 20 mins of any continuous activity will boost your energy level and reduce bad stressors. You don't even to pay a membership fee. The key is continuous like a 20min walk or even mopping your floors. You will look and feel better.

4. Drink water. No other liquid is quite like it. Clear your system. 8 glasses are recommended daily. Your skin will radiate.

5. Rest... you need to take breaks during the day and sleep at night. Takes breaks away from work space to keep fresh and focused. Make sure you are getting sufficient sleep at night since your body regenerates while you are sleeping. Because some think healthy foods cost more, find out your spending pattern by making 2 lists:. foods you like that are healthy that you normally don't buy. foods you like that are "junk food" that you normally buycalculate the cost of the 2nd list then use this amount to fund your "healthy" purchase. (of course you have to say bye-bye to the "junk food")

8. "Stop and smell the roses". Look for good in everything. This is a toughie because most of us are "trained" to look for faults, errors, shortcomings, defects, etc. Begin with yourself. List all your assets (not just physical). Then realize all the good in being you. Move on to other things around you. Work on this consciously every day till it becomes a habit. There is something good about everything and everyone. Once you realize this you will be finding good everywhere without even trying.

9. Learn... something new every day. Pick up a book. or search online. Learn to do something you have always wanted to do. You can even start for free by researching online. Search the subject and start stimulating and enriching your mind today.

10. Reward yourself. Set financial and personal goals and tag them with rewards for accomplishing them. (this one may be something special you have always wanted to do. and not necessarily a purchase.. But if you have done all the above maybe go ahead and splurge a little.

Apakah yang dimaksudkan dengan demam?
Hampir semua individu akan mengalami demam semasa hayat mereka dan ia merupakan masalah yang sangat biasa dialami semua orang terutama kanak-kanak.
Demam adalah satu gejala dan bukannya penyakit. Ia ditunjukkan sebagai suhu badan yang meningkat luar biasa tinggi. Ia merupakan tanda meningkatnya nilai sasaran termoregulator (pengawalan suhu) badan. Sebenarnya ia adalah salah satu cara badan anda melawan penyakit.

Apakah suhu badan yang normal dan abnormal (luar biasa)?
Purata suhu badan yang normal ialah 36.7 0C (julat 36-37.4 0C). Suhu normal di bahagian rektum atau faraj ialah 0.5-1.0 0C lebih tinggi daripada suhu oral (di dalam mulut). Manakala suhu normal ketiak adalah lebih rendah 0.5-1.0 0C berbanding suhu oral. Suhu rektum pula adalah lebih tepat jika dibandingkan dengan suhu oral.
Oleh itu, demam secara amnya merujuk kepada suhu oral melebihi 37.8 0C, suhu rektum melebihi 38.3 0C atau suhu ketiak yang lebih tinggi daripada 37 0C.
Bagaimanapun, suhu badan yang normal berbeza-beza mengikut umur individu, tekanan fizikal dan emosi yang dihadapi, suhu persekitaran, waktu dan bahagian anatomi tempat suhu diambil.

Mengapa perlu memahami demam?
Kita sepatutnya mengambil berat mengenai gejala demam ini kerana ia boleh memberi maklumat penting tentang perubahan status klinikal pesakit dan kehadiran sesuatu penyakit terutamanya jangkitan kuman. Walau bagaimanapun, darjah peningkatan suhu tidak semestinya menggambarkan keterukan sesuatu penyakit.
Secara amnya, demam sebagai tindak balas kepada sesuatu keadaan/penyakit adalah lebih ketara berlaku di kalangan kanak-kanak berbanding orang dewasa. Ia juga lebih merisaukan apabila berlaku di kalangan kanak-kanak.
Apabila suhu meningkat lebih daripada 40 0C, rawatan gejala mungkin perlu dilakukan terutama jika ianya berpanjangan. Tetapi jika suhu melebihi 41 0C, demam yang dialami boleh dianggap sebagai kes kecemasan perubatan.

Bagaimana suhu disukat?
Sesiapa sahaja boleh menyukat suhu dengan menggunakan termometer yang bersesuaian. Semasa sakit, termometer yang sama patut digunakan kerana ketepatan termometer berbeza-beza mengikut jenisnya. Termometer kaca mengandungi merkuri dan termometer elektronik biasa digunakan untuk menyukat suhu. Termometer kaca perlu dibasmi kuman setiap kali sebelum digunakan. Penggunaan penutup pakai buang pada termometer menyingkirkan keperluannya untuk di basmi kuman selepas digunakan. Termometer oral dan rektum tidak sepatutnya digunakan silih berganti.
Untuk memastikan bacaan yang tepat, individu tidak seharusnya terlibat dalam aktiviti fizikal yang kuat, memanaskan atau menyejukkan ruang mulut dengan merokok atau meminum minuman panas atau sejuk sekurang-kurangnya 5 -20 minit sebelum suhu badan diambil.
Sebelum menggunakan termometer kaca, kalibrasi perlu dilakukan dengan memutarkannya separas dengan mata untuk memastikan bacaan suhu yang ditunjukkan pada termometer berada di bawah 35.5 0C. Jika bacaan melebihi paras ini, goncang termometer dengan cepat sehingga paras merkuri turun di bawah paras 35.5 0C. Kemudian letakkan termometer di bawah lidah iaitu dengan menyengetkannya sedikit ke bahagian tepi mulut dan biarkan selama 2-4 minit.

Apakah penyebab demam yang utama?
Demam boleh merupakan gejala kepada:
Jangkitan bakteria, virus, rikettsiae, fungus, parasit.
Penyakit Autoimun: Contohnya demam Reumatik Vaskulitis, Artritis Reumatoid dewasa, Eritematosus Lupus Sistemik (SLE - Systemic Lupus Erythematosus).
Penyakit sistem saraf pusat: Contohnya kecederaan kepala, kecederaan tulang belakang dan pendarahan serebrum (bahagian otak utama).
Penyakit Neoplastik Malignan seperti Metastasis tumor ke hati, Neoplasma Primer (contoh: kolon dan rektum, hati, buah pinggang).
Penyakit dalam darah seperti Limfoma, Lleukemia, Anemia Hemolisis.
Penyakit kardiovaskular seperti jangkitan Miokardium, Embolisme Pulmonari.
Penyakit Gastrousus seperti hati bernanah/inflamasi, Hepatitis Alkoholik, penyakit keradangan usus.
Penyakit Endokrin seperti Hipertiroidisme, Feokromositoma.
Penyakit yang disebabkan oleh agen kimia seperti tindak balas ubat (Quinidine, Nifedipine, Penisilin-G, Ampisilin, Vancomycin, Bleomycin, Carbamazepine) dan Hipertermia Malignan disebabkan pembiusan.
Penyakit-penyakit lain seperti kecederaan pada tisu, Hematoma, demam Mediterranean keluarga.

Pengurusan sendiri
Anda dinasihatkan supaya meminum banyak air, terutama air kosong untuk menggantikan cecair dan elektrolit yang telah hilang. Awasi tanda-tanda dehidrasi yang mungkin berlaku.
Catatkan bacaan suhu setiap 2 jam dan jika perlu catatkan setiap kali berlaku perubahan gejala. Kekerapan menyukat suhu mungkin tidak disukai oleh kanak-kanak tetapi perubahan tingkah laku dan keluhan mereka boleh menjadi panduan untuk memberi ubat.
Bagi demam yang menyebabkan ketidakselesaan, lapkan badan dengan air suam dan ambil Parasetamol atau ubat antipiretik lain. Jangan memberi aspirin kepada kanak-kanak atau remaja yang berumur di bawah 20 tahun.

Berjumpalah doktor sekiranya....
Demam melebihi 40 0C yang tidak surut walaupun selepas 2 jam rawatan diberikan di rumah.
Demam yang berterusan: Banyak penyakit yang berpunca dari virus seperti selsema menyebabkan demam dengan suhu setinggi 39 0C atau lebih untuk jangka waktu yang singkat (12-24 jam).
Demam disertai dengan tanda-tanda jangkitan bakteria yang lain.
Demam yang dikaitkan dengan gejala yang mengganggu atau sukar dijelaskan.
Secara amnya, demam merupakan gangguan yang tidak berjangkit dan tidak merbahaya. Maka tujuan utama rawatan ialah untuk mengurangkan/melegakan ketidakselesaan yang dirasai. Dengan itu pendekatan sederhana bagi rawatan antipiretik (mengurang atau melegakan demam) adalah disyorkan. Secara amnya, ubat Asetaminofen atau Parasetamol merupakan agen antipiretik pilihan. Namun ubat-ubat ini perlu gunakan dengan berhati-hati untuk memperolehi kesan antipiretik yang maksimum dan mengelakkan sebarang kesilapan tidak sengaja dari berlaku seperti dos berlebihan dan keracunan.

Demam selsema
Apakah itu demam selsema?
Kebanyakan orang pada peringkat tertentu kehidupannya akan mengalami demam selsema. Secara amnya semakin meningkat dewasa, semakin kurang kita mendapat jangkitan demam selsema. Demam selsema biasa terjadi di kawasan beriklim panas dan juga di kawasan yang lebih sejuk.
Demam selsema merupakan jangkitan virus pada lapisan dalam hidung, sinus, tekak dan saluran pernafasan bahagian atas. Antibiotik tidak dapat membunuh virus. Sistem pertahanan badan anda adalah senjata terbaik untuk melawan serangan virus ini. Virus demam selsema merebak sama ada melalui udara ketika anda bercakap, bersin, batuk atau bernafas atau melalui tangan. Jangkitan biasanya bermula apabila hidung mula berair dan selalu bersin iaitu 1-4 hari selepas mendapat jangkitan virus.

Apakah tanda-tanda dan gejala demam selsema?
Tanda-tanda dan gejala demam selsema adalah mudah dicamkan, oleh itu selalunya diagnosis sendiri yang dilakukan pesakit adalah betul.
Gejala demam selsema bermula 1-3 hari selepas jangkitan.
Gejala-gejala yang paling biasa adalah seperti di bawah:
Tekak yang kering atau sakit-mungkin mendahului gejala-gejala lain dalam masa sehari atau lebih.
Hidung berair-hingus berair dan jernih kemudian ia mula pekat.
Hidung tersumbat (penyumbatan rongga hidung). Bayi mungkin sukar untuk menghisap susu disebabkan hidungnya tersumbat.
Bersin-merupakan usaha badan untuk melapangkan saluran rongga hidung.
Batuk-mungkin kering atau mengeluarkan kahak.
Suara parau-suara kasar dan parau kerana virus menyebabkan korda vokal (peti suara) membengkak.

Gejala-gejala yang lain
Mata rasa kepanasan sedikit
Hilang deria bau dan rasa.
Terasa seperti sinus atau telinga penuh dengan tekanan.
Demam.
